About Us
The Heroes Network is composed of a wide variety of superhero members. No two of us are exactly alike, but our commitment to our solid ideals is something we all share. The concept of bringing Truth, Freedom and Justice into the world is no longer one confined to the pages of a comic book. Every day, we use our diverse talents and abilities to make a positive difference in the world, whether promoting peace or fighting evil. Below are the three main types of superheroes among our ranks.
DEFENDERS
Can any one organization defend a people perfectly? The answer, historically, has always been no. From the fall of Rome to the rise of the Nazi Party we have heard that no loudly and clearly, but in modern times that no was most powerful on 9/11/01. On that day, it was the efforts of many heroic volunteers that saved lives. The Heroes Network seeks to honor the lives lost throughout human history by defending the safety of every man and woman. We will never be apathetic or stand by while others are hurt. We seek justice on crime-fighting missions and cooperate with the police and authorities in a way that is honorable and to the best interests of the people.
ACTIVISTS
Protection does not come from the physical realm alone, but by constantly fighting for the rights and opinions of those around us. In being seekers of justice, we must also be seekers of truth, not only in speaking up for ourselves, but speaking up for every silenced voice so that all societies can benefit. We must recognize the substantial benefits and valuable changes brought to humanity by the political and social movements in our shared history. Let's never lose the power of the American, French, Russian and English Revolution or the Civil Rights Movement. The Heroes Network honors the struggles of those that have come before us and speaks up for others, whether forgotten or silenced, whether weak or helpless.
ADVENTURERS
So much of life can be caged in the mundane. So many people are plagued by self-doubt and apathy that they never really care enough to close their eyes and leap. Yet it is exactly that ability that has propelled humanity beyond our humble beginnings and into our technological age. One of the most powerful adventures in modern memory was made by explorers who took to the reaches of space and landed on the moon. We must honor their amazing journey, honor the incredible power of adventure and exploration in our own lives. Whether through research, urban exploration, physical training, building new tools and weapons, we must seek out what is new and strange and different, to learn about our surroundings and to enrich our experience.
INDIVIDUALS
Whether defender, activist, adventurer, or all three, a superhero must always harness the extreme power of the individual. We understand that a single man or woman can make all the difference during turbulent times. That difference will always be more powerful and meaningful than the tyranny of an organization. That is why the Heroes Network is best described not as a team, but as a non-team, not as a place of conformity, but a place for individual expression. We each experience how transforming ourselves can be the greatest transformation of all. Crafting a self-chosen name, image, mission, determining our own focus, our own objectives, our own style, developing our own skills, abilities and talents, we celebrate the human being not just as a base unit of society, but as a unique force all their own.
